Of her memoir, Between Two Kingdoms, Suleika Jaouad said, I wrote it for other people in their own in-between places, and for people who are adjacent to anyone who has lived some life-threatening illness or trauma. I wanted to leave illness behind me. Suleikas career aspirations as a foreign correspondent were cut short when, at age 22, she was diagnosed with leukemia. As an antidote to isolation, depression, and fear, Suleika, Will, and her parents each commit to working on a project for 100 days. At the age of eight, Batiste began playing percussion and drums in his familys band, the Batiste Brothers Band. She is also worked as an author of the Life, Interrupted column in The New York Times and has also written for Vogue, Glamour, NPRs All Things Considered and Womens Health.
